SEATTLE—"Very impressive, very impressive," were the words of Cary Larson, an IT manager for T-Mobile, when asked how he felt about the Chinese Spectacular that took place on Thursday in the Paramount Theatre.

The Chinese Spectacular, put on by Divine Performing Arts, is an effort to revive China's traditional culture through the performing arts, with dance, music, and visual art in the form of a digital backdrops, some of which are animated.

Cary's wife, Shelby, who has her own online marketing business, particularly enjoyed the drumming performance. Cary said he liked best the "Nymphs of the Sea," noting he liked the fans that emulate water with "flowing cloth." Both of these performances are often named as favorites.

Shelby shared her thoughts about the cultural element of the show, "I just really like the way that this program is trying to shed light on China's original culture and the persecution that the Falun Gong people are under there, and I just really support that."

She continued, "and it's just a beautiful show."

Cary also mentioned that he felt there were "very uplifting messages in the songs." The songs are performed by world-class vocalists in Chinese, but with English translations appearing on the backdrop.

Shelby also said that she saw the deeper meaning of the show, beyond being just dance performances.
