VANCOUVER—The Divine Performing Arts Company performed the Chinese Spectacular, at Surrey's Bell Performing Arts Center on Friday, 25 April. Ken Walters, a teacher from Vancouver's Strathacona Elementary School, located in Vancouver's Chinatown was among the audience.

Mr Walter's said, "It was very beautiful from the beginning to end. I hoped for the freedom they long for. They express their true self and it's beautiful to see that. I wish them well and I think the entire world should be behind them."

His wife was impressed with the entire show and said, "I felt a beautiful ambiance from the beginning to the end. The theme, the spirit of the people, their love was something unusual. The word 'compassion' is used. I must say, I felt compassion—for myself and for the situation they have to endure. You wish them battling that—one needs to change in China. That's my feeling about the show."

Mr Walters thought that the Strathacona students would definitely like to see the Spectacular. "They absolutely would enjoy it."

'The performance was perfect'

Real estate agent Elaine Tugus was also in the audience on Friday night. "It was the best show I have seen in a long time. The first Chinese performance arts show I had the privilege to see. The performance was perfect. Their dances and their drum performances were excellent," she said.

She came to see the show with her friend Patricia who said: "I totally enjoyed it. It was awesome. I love the message about the truth, the compassion and forbearing. It was just an altogether awesome show."

This is not the first time Ms Tugus had experienced Chinese art. "I have visited the New York Chinese art museum a couple of years ago and it was fabulous. I was really looking forward to coming this evening to see the performance. The finally 'Victory Drums' performance was fabulous, very dramatic. It kind of moved my heart," she said.

Ms Tugus had purchased the tickets that evening.
