SEATTLE—Dick Raskey, a retired police officer who has been in Seattle since 1957 heard a lot about the Chinese Spectacular but did not know what to expect, so he looked at the preview online and thought it looked interesting enough to come see the real show. So he took his Chinese friend to tonight's show and stated, "I sure have not been disappointed, it's been very good."
The "Tang Drums" brought back wonderful memories of when Dick used to play in a drum unit when he was a child. Although Dick did mention that his drumming was nothing like what he saw tonight, he said "The drumming part was probably the best part."
"I've enjoyed it all. The opening was absolutely fantastic."
Divine Performing Arts presents a new beautiful backdrop for each dance, however, suddenly the backdrop transforms and becomes animated adding a whole new dimension to the audience to feast their eyes upon. "The special effects on the stage was really something I've never seen before."
Dick also added, "The action of the people [dancers] is so fluid, you almost think that they aren't human. It's something from heaven. Its been a very good show, I've really enjoyed it." Dick also added, "The music is extraordinarily good."
Dick has been to other Chinese shows before, but has seen none better than the Chinese Spectacular . "I've been to other Chinese shows before, not knowing what to expect, and although they were good, they were nothing on the order of this show."
Dick hinted that the other Chinese shows like the Beijing Oprah were a bit hard for a Westerner to relate to or comprehend. "Here, they mended everything together so that the concepts come across not only for the Asian audience but for the Western audience as well."
Dick would definitely recommend his friends to attend the show. "There is a lot of work that goes into one of these, and they have done a good job.
