"Beautiful."
This is how a medical laboratory scientist and avid belly dancer, Lisette Yates, described the matinee showing of the Chinese Spectacular in Auckland on Saturday. She felt that the performance was something that she could learn from.
"It's really good … I really like dance, and the performance is really spectacular."
Being a dancer herself, she was very impressed by the dance performances.
"The wave dance, ['Nymphs of the Sea'] that is my favorite so far." The use of the fans and the veil seemed familiar to her, she said.
"I myself do belly dance…yes I like dance–[this is] a bit different."
She thought many aspects were excellent.
"Definitely the poise, control, movements, and possibly some of those costumes ideas too. Some of those things in the arms."
"I heard from a friend at work and I though it sounded really good, but I didn't think I would be able to get tickets," she recalled. Then, added happily: "I just got them yesterday!"
