MUNICH, Germany–Mayor Josef Zeislmeier thoroughly enjoyed the Chinese Spectacular at the Prince Regent Theater in Munich on Saturday.

He was at the show with his wife from who hails from Pfronten in the Allgäu (Bavarian Region). Mrs. Zeislmeier said the show was very impressive and very educational.

"It was a nurturing of the heart. I felt that one is inspired by this show to really think about many things."

"It can not be compared with any other show because it affects and addresses only ones' innermost emotions. That is how I felt. A normal show sometimes usually addresses low/dirty instincts. It felt very pure to me, very harmonious, and very graceful.

She said the gracefulness in the performance is universal. "It is something one can not see otherwise in this manner. It has such a special aesthetic and provided food for thought."

Mayor Zeislmeier said the show was beautiful.

"It was spectacular, it was pure and poetic, and it was a success. The ancient and the modern, this combination and also those different kinds of performances: the drummers, the singers, the dancers -- it was a successful promotional event," he said.

Mayor Zeislmeier said he was aware of the persecution of Falun Gong and other groups in China and Tibet.

"I have already read about Falun Gong in the media at the end of the 1990s, when Falun Gong was prohibited. It was also reported by the German newspapers and then one has not hear anymore about it. It is banned and for many years, one has not heard about it," he said.

He said he was in Berlin two years ago and attended one of the Dalai Lama's visits. "We always have such small encounters with the problems in China, with the human rights violations and with these special cirumstances. Now, we are also connected very strongly with these problems in the European area."

"The Chancellor, Schröder travelled to China and ignored human rights. The new Chancellor Merkel, received the Dalai Lama despite such reprisals and difficulties. She stood up [for that] and I have read that she will receive him again," he said.

He said the free world such as America, Europe, and many parts of Asia must set an example that economics are not a priority.

"The priority is an international relationship, human rights, freedom, tolerance, and everything this evening has portrayed to us. China has a gigantic potential. China is not only an economic power but also a spiritual power. Therefore, I have come here today, it came along just like this," he said.
