Today, the Divine Performing Arts group delighted the public with a "heavenly performance". From the moment the stage lifted at the Sydney Entertainment Centre, a full house of two thousand showered the theatre with applause. After the performance, Ms Chen and her husband Mr Jin gave their impression of the show.
Ms Chen felt the show contained a harmonious blend of creativity backed with professional choreography. She said: "Art is without limits, it's not limited by cultural background, nor blemished by political biases. No matter how you feel, if you heart is at peace and you just enjoy the artistic side then whether you a Christian or a Buddhist is no longer relevant, it's just so beautiful."
Ms Chen also felt the performance is able to instil a sense of justice into the viewers. The idea of karma, where good deeds bring good returns whilst evil begets further evil, is inherent within Chinese culture. Ms Chen said this concept is not limited to Buddhism and is important for our moral standards, but this is lost in the modern society.
Ms Chen also said that Chinese culture is so vast and unlimited, that in the two hours of the show, only the tip of the iceberg was revealed and there were many other rich possibilities for further performances.
For Mr Jin, the most outstanding performance was the solo Chinese fiddle, or 'Erhu', piece called 'Predestinated relationship'.
"Not only was it a strong technical performance, but even more to the point, the Erhu player was able to convey the profound meaning of her piece through the music. From the very first moment, you felt there was substance in the music, enlightening and entrancing the audience," he said.
When asked how they came to know about the Chinese Spectacular, Mr Jin smiled and said somewhat mischievously, "When I first bought the tickets, I didn't tell my wife. I have been in Australia now for three years, but I have lived in mainland China for several decades, so I have a deep understanding of what is happening there."
Finally, Ms Chen added, "It's clear from the quality of the show that enormous time and energy went into the planning of this wonderful show".
