SYDNEY, Australia—Danny Long, a programme co-ordinator from the Edmund Rice Centre, attended the Chinese Spectacular for the second consecutive year during Wednesday's debut performance in Sydney.

Mr Long said that he enjoyed the show even more than the previous year and was deeply moved by its beauty.

When asked which performance stood out most for him, Mr Long replied: "I liked the drums...I think everyone loves the drums! And the bowls, the 'Mongolian Bowl Dance', and I don't know how those women stay on those shoes! [referring to The Ladies of the Manchu Court act] They do very well!"

The Edmund Rice Centre is an organisation involved in community and social justice issues, including servicing the needs of Indigenous Australians and asylum seekers. Mr Long is the co-ordinator of a growing new programme called JustTrade, which promotes the ideals of Fair Trade. He is noted for his regular presentations about justice to local community groups, church congregations, workplaces and schools.

Mr Long had previously hoped that the Olympic Games would have been a window into China's culture. However, he expressed concern that the curtain has instead been drawn on Chinese society, making it difficult for the world to see clearly what is taking place there.

He felt that the Spectacular, and especially the Falun Gong practitioners portrayed within the performances, offered a positive view of the Chinese culture.

"The beauty of Falun Gong and the Falun Gong people, they are such beautiful people...what can you say?" he said.
