AUCKLAND, New Zealand—The opening scene of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular at Auckland's ASB Theatre brought Aboriginal artist and poet, Christine Soranson, a feeling of elevation.
She spoke in awe and wonderment of 'Descent of the Celestial Kings', saying "When it was first opening, with the kings coming down, and the golden colours, it was like a mist, it was coming from the heavens, that really sort of... I felt elevated."
Christine also spoke of 'The Risen Lotus Flower'—about how touched she was by the portrayal of the persecution of Falun Dafa by the Chinese communist regime, and how their spirits refuse to be broken. She said "Well the one part that really touched me, and that brought tears to my eyes, was the part where the prison ... but before that, was when the Falun Dafa were being persecuted, and I felt a sort of sadness, but then when I saw the light shining, it was like, there is faith, there is hope. There is love, there is compassion."
Christine summed up her experience of the show by saying "Like, the words say 'Divine Performing Arts Spectacular', it's exactly, every single one of those words."
