AUCKLAND, New Zealand— "The colour, the vibrancy, the energy, mmm synchronisation, and the compassion, forbearance and honesty—you can't go wrong with that can you," said Ann Sturgeon about the Spectacular after seeing the finale in Auckland, April 19.
Mrs Sturgeon said she had seen the advertising for the show in so many places and had decided to go but had no idea what to expect.
"Its not familiar, but I enjoyed it. It went with the choreography and sounded very good."
Husband Kevin, a retired policeman, said he had expected the show would be from mainland China, not America, but had learnt a lot about traditional Chinese culture.
"Some of the stories and history, yes that was good."
When asked how he would describe it to friends Mr Sturgeon said it in one word, "authentic".
Mrs Sturgeon said she had enjoyed, "the colour, the beautiful colours," and noted the precision of the dancers, "all so synchronised aren't they, all of them, so together."
She also noted the contemporary scenes depicting the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China, particularly ['The Power of Awareness'].
"That was something," she said," the persecution scene and how they banded together to dispel them [the Chinese guards].
"Its quite uplifting," she said.
