"Fantastic, even when they were fighting, when he was going to have the tattoos on his back, ['The Loyalty of Yue Fei'], and then the forts on the hills started to burn down… you know, it was just great, really good. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it," continued Mr Gozdz. (Robert Fisk /The Epoch Times)

AUCKLAND, New Zealand—Retired theatre nurse John Gozdz attended the final Auckland performance of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular with his wife at the ASB Theatre, Aotea Centre on Saturday evening, April 19. He thought it was marvellous, "the colour, the movement, the smoothness of it, the contrast between the backdrop and the costumes. It's just marvellous, wonderful, [we're] really thoroughly enjoying it," said Mr Gozdz.

When asked what his favourite performance was he said, "The one where the archer was shooting the moon ... yes, the 'Lady of the Moon'. Yes, that was very good. And how they did it, and they brought that all in, and the movement on the backdrops as well. I don't know how they do that ...

He also mentioned that they had never seen a show like this before. "We've been to various ballets and Russian dances, and the Cossacks and that sort of thing."

Mr and Mrs Gozdz are from Hamilton (about an hour and half south of Auckland) and had heard about the Spectacular ) when they were taken with the advertising at a nearby shopping centre a couple of weeks prior to the event.

Although Mr Gozdz admitted that he was watching the performances mainly for the spectacle, he could see a deeper meaning in 'The Loyalty of Yue Fei' in particular. "…. going off to fight the war rather than staying behind and looking after the mum, that bit sort-of [was meaningful]."

Mr Gozdz again said how marvellous the show was and that they would return to see it again. "We thought it was marvellous, thought it was wonderful."
