AUCKLAND, New Zealand— The second Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular performance in Auckland on Friday April 18 received praise from audience members from all walks of life.
Elated after watching the Spectacular was Gaile Alexander, a Child, Youth and Family worker who came to see the show because she likes dance and traditional forms of entertainment.
"Oh, I like the colour, the dancing is fantastic, the colours, the interaction and the patterns they make, they're very beautiful, I enjoyed it very much."
"And the female singer, the soprano, she was fantastic, she's the star of the show".
Soprano Pi-ju Huang, who received an encor, intrigued the audience with her voice when she performed 'May You Understand', which followed the opening performance in the first half of the show.
Ms Alexander also recalled some of her favourite dance performances, 'Nymphs of the Sea' "the wave impressions, I like the impressions it created" and 'Water Sleeves' "the waterlily dancers, the ones with the long sleeves."
'I am very proud to be Chinese'
Also among the Friday evening audience was business owner Sue Seller, whose first comment after the show was: "I think it's fantastic and I just wanted to come here today."
When asked what performance she liked most, Ms Seller replied: "I think the drums. Just everything, you see. I just can't say which one I prefer because I love everything. And the opera as well."

Ms Seller felt being part Chinese had a great impact on her enjoyment of the show, feeling proud of her glorious heritage and its portrayal throughout the show.
"Probably because I am part Chinese as well, maybe. I'm half Chinese, half Thai and I was born in Thailand... I am very proud to be Chinese, very proud."
