AUCKLAND, New Zealand—Ms Beth Nielsen, a financial consultant, and her partner attended the Chinese Spectacular on Friday April 18. For Beth, it was the first time she had seen such a show.
"I have never seen a show like this," she said. "There were two or three different ideas. There was winning and losing. The first is as a group they could win, but alone they couldn't [referring to the performance 'Power of Awareness', which shows how Chinese citizens came together to support a woman and child who were being persecuted for practising Falun Gong]."
"It was like a combined force does better," added her partner.
He shared his feelings further about the show and said he liked "the one with the two boys in the Buddhist temple ['Fruits of Goodness'] and I quite like the performance where the guy with that half moon symbol on their backs, the bad guys representing communism, [were] persecuting the ones who were practising [Falun Gong]."
"I quite like the deeper meaning," he explained. "I want to research the Falun Gong. I want to know more. I know there are issues there. The New Zealand media does not really bring this to our attention."
