AUCKLAND, New Zealand—Mr Martin Lawes, Chairperson for the Takapuna Community Board, shared his general feelings about the Chinese Spectacular on Friday night: "[It is] outstanding, very good, and not just the people and performance, but the graphics and the backdrops... a lot of thought and trouble [went into them]. They are great, very professional."

When asked what his favourite performance was, Mr Laws said: "I like the one with the old people coming on the stage and the one shooting down the suns ['Lady of the Moon']. I think it had an interesting story and it ended up very happy in the end. She went off back to the moon. Very nice and good balance... great, the movement, the energy and the choreography is very, very nice."

"I can see there was a lot of planning gone into the choreography... It is all planned and hard work and a big cast too, very good. And everyone [is] very beautiful.

"I thought the lady singer [soprano Pi-ju Huang] was outstanding too," he said.

Mr Lawes commented on the two performances, 'The Risen Lotus Flower' and 'Power of Awareness' and said: "This is really, I guess, the message of Falun Gong isn't [it]?

"Well I am a person who believes that we should tolerate everyone, accept our differences, and rejoice in what we have in common. And we are all human to start with. And we all normally like the same things that make us feel good... and how we treat people. I think the message of Falun Gong is probably endeavouring to break down the barriers and the rigid life that people are having in China and they feel they have no option."
