AUCKLAND, New Zealand—Audience members at the opening night of the Chinese Spectacular were "wowed" by the costumes of the performers.
A standing ovation greeted dancers from the Divine Performing Arts company at the end of the Thursday, April 17, show in Auckland.
One audience member, Claudia Biederman, said that she was equally moved by all of the performances. "They were all very beautiful," she said.
"We learnt a bit about the Chinese traditional culture - very much so, with all those beautiful costumes. I found the whole show very well presented, really professionally done.
"I will definitely be back next year."
Air hostess Kumi Asiata said: "What stood out most were the costumes, they were just magnificent. Three letters – wow – its just amazing.
"The flair and the accessories that go with it and the head-gear –it's something different.
"Having learned about a different culture it's been really inspiring, I would definitely bring my friends and family along."
"The whole show was great. It was quite relaxing as well, very entertaining."
Retired secretary Jeanette also praised the costumes, especially the "scarves and the long sleeves".
She added: "I thought that was very graceful. I enjoyed the drummers too. I thought the whole thing was wonderful. I just feel privileged to watch it. This was my first time but I'll be back.
"I learned a lot about Chinese culture. I hope my friends will come to the show. It's so lovely to see."
