AUCKLAND, New Zealand—An Auckland couple who run a hostel for Chinese students attended the opening night of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular.
Geoff Stevens believes that the show has helped him learn of the past culture that has been lost and now regained.
"What was lost has been regained I think, what was lost for the centuries of culture, was lost very quickly has been regained, coming back again," he said. "That was quite exciting I think."
The Spectacular aims to revive the traditional 5000-year Chinese culture through performing arts. It depicts ancient myths and legends, as well as aspects of modern history on China.
"I think it's a great way to get to understand some of the myths and you know, the culture of the Chinese people," said Geoff's wife Gayle.
Gayle's favourite number were the Drummers of the Tang Court.
"Oh it's quite powerful isn't it, the way they do that it's really quite moving," she said.
