AUCKLAND, New Zealand—The Chinese Spectacular received a standing ovation at the ASB Theatre, Aotea Centre on Thursday evening, after the Divine Performing Arts opening performance of four shows in Auckland.
Overwhelmed by what they had seen, the Little Sisters of the Poor praised the show during an interview with The Epoch Times during intermission.
"I'm Mother Angela, and these are the Little Sisters of the Poor. I'm enjoying the program immensely. So we're delighted to be here. Ohh, extraordinary isn't it. The agility and the precision of the dancers, and the beautiful voices of the singing. Beautiful! Really … aaahhh! It really is all spectacular, spectacular. And the rhythm and the lyrics, beautiful, beautiful."
"I'm Sister Jean, and I'm very happy. I think it's spectacular. I'm really impressed with the costumes and the performance. And the creativity, it's really great."
"Sister Geraldine, and I'm very impressed with the meditative emphasis put on the dance, and how they put the gesture into the dance. You can almost read through the gesture what they're telling us, saying to us. And it's very meditative and imaginative."
Sister Pat also said a few words "I live at the Little Sisters, and I just think it's wonderful, marvellous."
And Sister Clare was equally amazed by the first half of the show: "I'm thoroughly enjoying this. I think it's got a spiritual notation and it's really beautiful, comes through beautifully, and the discipline and the enthusiasm with which they dance and do everything—their actions are beautiful.
The Little Sisters of the Poor from a home in Ponsonby, Auckland City were eagerly excited as they took their seats for the second half of the show.
