AUCKLAND, New Zealand—Home is a long way away for Sandra Karlsson, who came to Auckland from Sweden to study physical education. However, she was glad she was in New Zealand tonight (April 17), where she watched the opening night of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular.

Ms Karlsson came to the ASB Theatre, Aotea Centre having never seen Chinese shows before. What she saw was "really interesting" and something that she would never get to watch in Sweden.

In fact, it is this Chinese cultural feel that attracted Ms Karlsson to come to the Spectacular in the first place. She admits that she "does not really know much about Chinese culture", but the "mixture" of genres presented in the Spectacular impressed her. She commented on the opera singer's singing to be "like poetry".

When asked what the favourite act was she exclaimed, the "drums"—'Drummers of the Tang Court' and 'Victory Drums'.

"I wanted to do something cultural. The China thing, I never get something like this at home. So I thought it's a great opportunity to see it here."

Musician Would Tell Friends to 'Come and See It! It's a Good Experience!'

Also attending the show in Auckland was Denis—a musician and a tradesman. He said he loved all parts of the show and struggled to pinpoint one as a favourite. He said the performers were "very gutsy. A lot of strength there."

When asked what he would tell his friends, he enthusiastically replied: "Come and see it! It's a good experience!"
