AUCKLAND, New Zealand—The Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular met with high praise after its first performance on Thursday night at the ASB Theatre in Auckland's Aotea Centre.

"I am very, very impressed," said Carol Sangster, during the intermission. "I am enjoying it very much ... The choreography is excellent."

Carol, who attended the show with her son's family, was particularly impressed with the singers. "I would love to hear them together, because they've got beautiful voices.

"The legends are rather interesting," she added. "I quite like to see the legends of different [cultures], because they are quite interesting. When you start looking at other countries they almost have the same legends anyway, different names."

Carol said that she had been to many live shows, but had never seen one like the Chinese Spectacular .

'A Totally New Experience'

"I just felt really involved in it," Sharon explained. (margo MacVicar/The Epoch Times)

Another audience member, Sharon Lepper, echoed Carol's comment. "It is an experience like no other. It is just different to anything I have ever seen, a totally new experience…[It] absolutely just gives an awareness of the depth of what is ingrained in there, and you can see it coming out in what they are doing.

"I just felt really involved in it," Sharon explained. "I just loved the colour, the music, the costumes. I just loved the whole thing. The gentleness of some of the items, the beautiful singing, the soloist and I enjoyed the drummers."

'Very Good,Very Perfect'

For Mary Loke, the performance was also very different to previous shows she had seen. "My daughter dances in the Chinese culture, but this one is so different. I just see it is so good. Actually I need to bring my daughter to have a look.

"So good and so beautiful and so fabulous," Mary said. "I could just sing!"

"The first show when the Buddhas come from the sky, I just went, 'Aahhh!' and the Mongolian one ['Mongolian Bowl Dance'], the bowl on the head, that was very good too. I had a good night, a very good one ... Everything was very good, very perfect."
