ADELAIDE, Australia—Iris Barnett, a retired clerk, attended the Spectacular's final performance in Adelaide with her husband on their golden wedding anniversary: "It was spectacular. I didn't know what to expect. I had no idea what kind of show it was. And the opening, I thought was great. And the singing. I'm Welsh, so you know we're into singing. And we thought that was wonderful. But all the way through it was great, it was great.
"Strangely enough, I liked the drums, which is not my thing. But I really like them. And I liked the fans, and the lotus and the fans. I liked it all, liked it all. And I think everybody around me did too, lovely, lovely."
She said she would probably come back next year, "This was our golden wedding anniversary present from our daughter, so we didn't know what it was. We had no idea, no idea. It was lovely, lovely."
Her husband also wanted to chip in his thoughts, but after piping up with "I'm the better half…", Iris, in her excitement, quickly spoke for him: "…and he loves the singing, loves the singing, because his brother sings in the Welsh choir, played here two years ago. It's very colourful isn't it? Very, very beautiful. The costumes were beautiful. You said 'spectacular', it was spectacular!"
Finally, her husband echoed her sentiments and got the final word: "The writing is right, it is spectacular!
