ADELAIDE, Australia—Phillip Burton is about to start Chinese language lessons so he was more than ready to see The Spectacular at the Adelaide Centre Festival Theatre.
"Oh magnificent; Spectacular as named and the finale there, prior to our break now was fantastic wasn't it? I mean the drums — they were just mesmerizing," said Phillip about the show.
"I have a lot of respect for Chinese people," he said.
"Very disciplined, very cultural, very serious in their culture: They're to be admired — very, very talented."
Phillip, formerly from the legal profession, said he had enjoyed all the acts and had been particularly impressed with the backdrops.
"I enjoyed everything. Fantastic. I thought the back drops were fantastic. I was mystified how they did it with the volcanoes smoking ... very impressive, very impressive."
Phillip said he would be returning next year and expected that word would travel very fast about the caliber of the show.
"I'll certainly spread the word".
Phillip said he was not able to understand the Chinese language sections in the show
"But I will in time," he said keenly.
