ADELAIDE, Australia—A likely bunch of ladies were in attendance at the matinee performance of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular in Adelaide, and they were delighted with what they had seen.
When asked, Joan Cahill exclaimed: "Oh I thought the bowls on the head were very, very clever!"
Dot Mason said she liked the music in the performance and "loved the drums".
Eileen Ware agreed, but expanded "…The music, yes, but the costuming was absolutely fantastic," and then she seemed lost in thought, but continued "it must have… anyway, that and the backdrops, the scenery at the back, that was stunning."
Joan said, "The soloists all had beautiful voices …and the presenters were very good, the whole show was just spectacular."
Eileen, when asked what she would remember of the performance, immediately said "The costuming, the beautiful way of their movements, and expression, and the way they told the stories in the dance. You could really pick up those stories."
Kath Cummings, who spoke with a Scottish accent, in the end and after some thought, also shared her views: "I liked the hand movements; and you know, we all need to learn that forbearance and truth, and compassion. It was excellent."
When asked which part of the performance exemplified these values, she thought again, and said: "Well to me, it ran through the whole thing, and really afterwards it was all about compassion for the whole world," and Joan chimed in, "We wouldn't be here in the position we're in now." Kath continued: "Everything's all fallen apart, and you can see it every day, I mean, just to tell the story with the hands, just beautiful hands, even the men, it was just lovely, I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Joan summed up the thoughts of the group: "We came with no preconceptions about what it was going to be about or anything like that, and I would recommend anybody to come and see it, spectacular, the whole thing, the whole thing."
