ADELAIDE, Australia—"It was a wonderful performance. To watch other dancers perform so beautifully, it was an amazing show," said former ballet dancer Renata Szafir of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular after seeing the show with her parents in Adelaide on April 14.

Ms Szafir said while all dances tell a story, the techniques in classical Chinese dancing differ from Western ballet.

"The [Chinese classical dance] techniques are more fluent and more delicate to what I have seen and it tells a story, it tells a different type of story in a different way," she said.

Although Ms Szafir has put her dancing career on hold to complete her studies in Communications, she said was inspired by the performance.

"Actually it made me feel like I would like to learn it."

Ms Szafir's father, Anton Skubala, a retiree, said the show was "brilliant, spectacular," and lived up to its name.

"It is everything that was advertised. We just couldn't get over how wonderful it was," he said. "The colour, the energy! It was absolutely wonderful. The people ... marvellous, marvellous. They were very professional, very professional."

Particularly impressed by the drummers, Mr Skubala said he enjoyed how the Spectacular displayed a cultural side of China that was rarely seen.

"It meant something to us because we only see one part of China, and these people have brought over tradition and dance and colour to entertain us. And we enjoyed it."

"Five thousand years, that's an amazing history."

Mr Skubala's wife, Barbera, also a singer and dancer, said the show was "excellent."

"It was beautiful, I can't say more than [it] was ... fantastic."
