CANBERRA, Australia—Originally from Indonesia, project manager Rino and her husband Hendra, who is a student, attended the Spectacular with their family for an educational outing for their children.
"That's really why we brought the children across with us," said Rino. "Last year, we actually watched another live show and it was so impressive, and we talked about it a lot. I think especially for my son Adrian here, this is now a different setting and different kind of live performance for him. I'm sure we will talk a lot about it at home, so yeah, very educational."
Father and son went for the drums. "For my son and I, I just liked the drums, the last one ['Victory Drums']," said Hendra. Rino had another favorite. "I especially liked the chop sticks and the fans, and I loved the clothes. I really totally blown away by the beautiful colours."
The erhu performance delighted the family. "Ah! that two-stringed instrument. I've got a Chinese friend who goes to China many times, so next time I will ask her to bring me a copy of that sound, it's so romantic, so beautiful," Rino said.
Rino says there was more to the performance than just entertainment. "I think, especially after the show and throughout the show, I suddenly realised, of course you know it's the Falun Dafa group that invited them to Canberra. For Indonesians, we don't really have that background, that understanding, so it was quite informative."
Student Enjoys Rich Tradition
Nick's education broadened significantly after attending the Chinese Spectacular at the Canberra Theatre on Saturday night. "I learned lots. It [Chinese culture] is a lot richer than I thought. There is a lot more tradition than I did not know or had thought about."
He got a very clear message from the vocalists. "I like the singers actually with their lyrics and stuff. It is just that I can understand their message—very clear in contrast with the world we live in and the world we want to live in. Very important—that is the clearest message that came through today."
