CANBERRA, Australia—Audience members James and Lauren Bustard said they thought the costumes were the most amazing part of the Chinese Spectacular.
"Oh, we're both really enjoying it; the girls are really enjoying it too," Ms Bustard said during the interval of Canberra's Saturday matinee performance with daughter Juliette, wearing a princess outfit, by her side. "We enjoy the costumes a lot. The dresses are really amazing; that's probably the most impressive thing that stuck out most in my mind so far.
"The way they move is very different and very nice to watch."
Her husband, James Bustard, who said he came to the show without any preconceptions, agreed, but said he also really enjoyed the 'Drummers of the Tang Court'.
"Graceful I think is the word that comes to mind ... very graceful, intricate body movements," he said. "[The way] they move the hands and the feet, I guess it's not just your standard body movements."
"Loving the colours, particularly the dresses," he said.
"I really do like the drums at the end as well. I think that was really cool I enjoyed that a lot."
"Yeah it's really, really fun, lots of diversity. I love the different dances. Between the drums and the graceful dancers and the people jumping around, yeah, it's great."
Both said they particularly liked the moral stories interwoven throughout the performance, as well as the explanations given by the comperes before each movement.
"Yeah, they're fun," said Mr Bustard of the moral stories. "That's a different aspect to the culture and it's good to hear the different stories and it's good to see how they portray them.
"Yeah, I agree," Ms Bustard said. "I really enjoyed the little prologue before the dance or the drums. You get an idea of what you're watching."
