CANBERRA, Australia—Lachlan Kennedy, news presenter for Southern Cross Ten (TV station), could not get enough of the Chinese Spectacular when he finally saw it at the Canberra Theatre on April 11.

"Overall, I think the show was fantastic. I loved every performance of it," Mr Kennedy said.

"I was quite interested to see it. I heard great reviews about this show, especially how successful it was here in Canberra last year — how popular it was. I was very eager to see it, so it was a great opportunity. I'm glad Southern Cross was getting behind it."

Southern Cross Television was a sponsor of the Spectacular in Canberra this year.

Mr Kennedy said both he and his partner had enjoyed the dancing, albeit choosing different ones as their favourite. "It's amazing. We both like different parts of the show. I like the very masculine Tang Dynasty drummers and she loved the 'Mongolian Bowl Dance', we thought it was great."

Mr Kennedy said all the dancers were amazing, and he liked the MCs who allowed for scene changes, while informing the audience of the intricacies of Chinese dance and traditional culture.

"I like the way how the hosts explained everything and how they did define the difference between ballet and the Chinese classical form of dance.

"It was excellent. I think I really appreciated that. Obviously the performers had to change the scenes. I think it's a great way to cover it. I think little breaks in shows can be particularly flat moments in a production, but I think they did that really well. It was great comedy and they worked very well together, and they did some great Australian jokes!

"There are so many pieces of costume and obviously performers, drum equipment, musical instruments to move all around the world, and come here, especially to Canberra. I think Canberrans really appreciate it. And they love it! It's a fantastic show overall.

"I think a lot people need to understand Chinese traditional culture a lot better. I think it's a great opportunity to do it."
