CANBERRA, Australia—The Chinese Spectacular is "very beautiful" say Fay Macourt and Helen Cameron, both retired, after attending Canberra's opening show on Friday night.
"The show is very beautiful, beautiful dress and their position and gracefulness is just wonderful," said Ms Macourt, who said she knew a little about Chinese culture and had attended a number of Chinese shows. "I've been enjoying the whole night.
"The backdrop was extremely good in combination with the movements and the fantasy bits," she said.
Helen Cameron said: "I thought the under the sea one was really very beautiful," referring to the 'Nymphs of the Sea'.
However, Ms Cameron believed the singers were good enough to carry their voices without amplification. "It would sound better without the loud speakers. They were good voices. They would fill the hall without that," she said.
'It Draws You In'
Peter Robertson, a government worker who enjoys reading Taoist texts in his spare time, said the Spectacular was "very engaging".
"I enjoyed it — very visual," Mr Robertson said. "It draws you in — very engaging. [It] opens the senses. I like it.
"I like the programme 'The Lady of the Moon'. I thought that was very good. And the drums were very visual.
"I enjoy these sorts of mythical stories because it was quite happy and sad at the same time."
