TAMPERE. Finland—The Divine Performing Arts performed the Chinese Spectacular, a show that brings ancient Chinese culture to the West, at Tampere Hall. The audience was treated to a potpourri of different scenes from China's 5,000 year-old history something that has never been seen in Tampere.

Andrei Lobov enjoyed the show and said, "It was a great show. It was really full of vivid colors. I felt energized during the entire show."

He felt that the show flowed really well, and "had the right balance of dances and solo performances by the singers."

The 'Drummers of the Tang Court' and 'Victory Drums' were among his favorites. He said, "The drum players performance was spectacular, and the medley of dances and singing were a tremendous boon to the show."

He liked the Erhu [two-stringed Chinese fiddle] the most, followed by the dance 'Nymphs of the Sea' and shared with us, "What I liked the most was the traditional Chinese violin. Then I was quite taken by the water flow dance. The expression and the motion were amazing."

Lobov had some many insights and was willing to share them, "Dance is one language that promotes culture. There are different ways to bring culture to the people and dance is one of those. There is always a balance, and dance is a part that lets one express oneself and also is a part in this balancing act."

He also felt that the show balanced traditional methods with modern technology.

"The show brought the true Chinese culture to the public very well. On one hand, there is a display of ones understanding of ancient Chinese cultural history; on the other hand the organizers also used modern technology very effectively. They really conveyed the message to the audience. The historical myths, displayed in the dances, were also impressive. All this gave the audience a link and rich experience into Chinese culture."

Lobov was happy to discover something new and said, "It's always nice to discover a new culture. Through different cultures we get a better understanding of our own life and culture. Therefore, when thinking about it from that angle, I think it's a very valuable experience. I will remember the colors, the music, the dance, and the special character of them all."
