TAMPERE, Finland—Audience reaction the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular has been very positive as the show ended its run at Tampere Hall in Finland.

Paula Marivara is an oboist in the Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, who attended Monday evening's show with her father, Ilkka, who is a retired IBM sales manager.

"I enjoyed it a lot. It was peaceful, especially the dance performances. I also liked the drummers and the Chinese violin," she said, referring to the erhu, a two-stringed instrument known for its wide range of notes and mellow, haunting sound.

"It was really, really good."

Her father was equally impressed with the drumming acts and the erhu.

"I liked the traditional Chinese ballet very much [as well]," he said.

Ms. Marivara thought the show to be unique among those that she had seen in the past:

"I haven't really seen any shows before about traditional Chinese culture. I have been in China before and I've seen some of these kinds of things, but not like this," she said.

Mr. Tyomensalo, who also attended Monday's show, said ''it was quite different, I loved it." He added that he especially liked 'Drummers of the Tang Court' and 'Victory Drums', as well as the piece 'Water Nymphs.'

"The drums were very touching. The pink fan dancing that imitated the movement of flowing water ['Water Sleeves'] was my favorite. It was so nice, so calm and relaxing"

The New York-based Divine Performing Arts has two performance groups touring simultaneously in Europe and Australia. By the end of its international tour, the Spectacular will have played to a total live audience of 650,000. The tour spans 65 cities on four continents.
