BRATISLAVA, Slovakia—Divine Performing Arts, on its tour around the world, stopped in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, to present the Chinese Spectacular . Audiences packed the Slovak National Theatre and gave a cheering, standing ovation after seeing the classical Chinese dance and arts showcased in the Spectacular.
Erika Brandnerová, founder and director of Halo Halo, an acclaimed dance studio in Slovakia, found the show “very beautiful.” A highly-accomplished and well-established choreographer herself, Brandnerová has seen many dancers and styles of dance come through her studio over its 10-year life span. Catering to all ages and many techniques, Brandnerová’s dance studio won the “World Championship” five times and many Slovak dance championships.
She said, “The Chinese classical dance is beautiful in [the] way [they] performed it, for sure.”
“It is beautiful. Very beautiful are the colors which dancers are using, and costumes. Very beautiful are the formations, positioning of dancers, forms, expression of thoughts and internal meaning—these were all nice and beautiful.”
Divine Performing Arts is dedicated to presenting ancient, authentic Chinese culture borne of meticulous research. Most of the dance and costumes in the Spectacular date to China’s Tang Dynasty (618 – 907 A.D.), a period considered to be China’s “Golden Era” of culture.

Zuzana Kralevicova lives and works in Trnava, about 50 kilometers outside of Bratislava. She was surprised, she said, after taking in the stories and performances in the Spectacular . When asked why, she said “Because I’ve never seen something like this. It was great.”
“It was a true experience. I’ve never seen anything like this, as I said before. The culture, the movements—it was great.”
After Bratislava, the Spectacular will carry on to Prague for more shows next week. A total of 35 shows will be seen in 14 European countries.
