VIENNA, Austria—Christine Godovits and her husband came to see the Chinese Spectacular at the Vienna Stadthalle on Thursday, after seeing the show last year in Berlin at the invitation of their son. She said, "I think the show is great."
She said she liked the dancing and the music—and also the messages behind the dances. Her son practices Falun Gong and she is familiar with its principles of Zhen, Shan, Ren (Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance), so she especially enjoyed those dance pieces that referenced the practice.
Although they saw the show last year, her husband noticed that this performance was different. Christine said, "I like everything. The water dance [ Nymphs of the Sea ], I like that the most—the idea about the water—because I do Watsu (Water-Shiatsu). Have you heard about it? Nowadays the women don't go to the river—that was before they had classes, courses, on how to do it.
Mrs. Godovits is a midwife, and explained the exercises and breathing techniques she teaches. "I go with the mother and father to-be, in the water, and you learn to relax. In water, you cannot do anything else but relax. And you cannot cheat in breathing, because we'd breathe in the water. It's amazing how much air we have ... almost everyone in this civilization breathes wrong."
After the show in Vienna, the Spectacular will play in Bratislava on Sunday, heading on to Prague for more shows next week. A total of 35 shows will be seen in 14 European countries.
