VIENNA—Divine Performing Arts stopped in Vienna, Austria, Thursday evening to perform its renowned Chinese Spectacular at Stadthalle Wien to a delighted audience.
"I think it's very entertaining," said Jennifer O'Loughlin, a soprano opera singer during the intermission. "I'm enjoying the music, I like everything."
O'Loughlin said she enjoyed the teacup dance, "The Mongolian Bowl Dance," the most, "It was atmospheric, it was mesmerizing."
She also had an appreciation for the technical side of the show. "I thought they showed a great variety of technical ability, as far as the dancing was concerned. I think what they were doing took quite a bit of energy."
"It was really interesting to hear the language sung, really interesting, the sounds," she said in regards to the Chinese songs. "I'm wondering if it was based on a Chinese folk song, or a traditional Chinese song. How did they come about with that arrangement?"
"I'm wondering what it is because it sounds like a combination of something old and new, which is what I think this program is. I think it's kind of like East meets West … It's being presented as a real show, almost like Broadway."
"So these two elements, the East and the West, are coming together and joining to make, in German, … a spectacle, a grand show."
