TAMPERE, Finland—Torolf Öhman is a teacher currently living in Tampere. He came to see the Chinese Spectacular at Tampere Hall on March 30.
Mr. Öhman commented specifically on "The Drummers of the Tang Court," which made a "very strong impression" on him.
"One could imagine the Tang Dynasty at its cultural zenith," he said. "It's very good."
Mr. Öhman also appreciated the "The Nymphs of the Sea," "Snowy Mountain," and "White Lotus' acts. Of the latter, he said he felt the "stillness" or "flow" of the dance, which he found enchanting.
A showgoer doesn't have to have a deep appreciation for the history of dance in order to appreciate the performances, said Mr. Öhman.
"In a normal show, I might be looking at my watch, but here something is happening all the time, and you are drawn into it. That's my impression."
His overall impression of the Spectacular was, "It's hard to explain. I would say there are no words to describe it for someone who hasn't seen it. You have to go and see it for yourself."
