TAMPERE, Finland—Shaolin Kung Fu master Thieu Lam was impressed by some Shaolin Kung Fu content in the Chinese Spectacular which played in Tampere on Sunday. Originally from Vietnam, Lam's mother is Chinese.
He said through a translator that he liked all the dances and every part of the show. He said he liked the Kung Fu part and the drumming acts — 'Drummers of the Tang Court' and 'Victory Drums'.
One of his students, Jenni Pietila, who attended the show with Lam said, "It was really nice to see an old culture like this being performed here."
"And the music and dresses and all the dancing techniques and everything, it's really different from what we usually see in the west, so it was really great...spectacular!"
She said she enjoyed the show very much, "and hopefully we will be able to see this again, maybe next year."
Another of his students, Katariina Pietila said she thought the show was "really amazing" and would also like to see it again.
She was most impressed by the drummers, 'Water Sleeves' and the traditional Chinese fan dance.
"It was really beautiful," she said.
The girls said they practice Kung Fu a couple of times a week for one-and-a-half hours.
