MELBOURNE, Australia—Mr and Mrs Ernest Harry were already looking forward to next year's performance of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular after having enjoyed the Melbourne finale on Sunday afternoon.
"I loved every minute of it, fantastic, I loved it, absolutely beautiful, the colours, the costumes, it was beautiful," said Mrs Harry.
"The fan! The fan! Yes I loved the fan. Very pretty. Are you coming back again next year?!" enthused Mrs Harry.
"What I like was the one about Falun Gong," explained Mr Harry, an engineer. "That was very impressive... [Falun Gong] is accepted in Australia and many other countries in the western world and that showed on the stage [in] how the people reacted to it. I think that was one of my favourite things about the show.
"And the costumes and the drums were spectacular. I would like to come back once again.
"We will bring our family next time – my daughter and her family," said Mrs Harry.
"Yes, we'll bring our family," added her husband.
Stunning!
Melbourne residents, Mr and Mrs Duncan McLaren, emigrated from Scotland about 50 years ago and attended the show during the Melbourne finale on Sunday 30th March.
When asked what he thought of the show, Mr McLaren exclaimed: "Stunning, stunning! The colours were just – I loved the colour and the vitality of the show they were really good, I haven't been to this sort of show before and I wasn't sure what to expect and I'm glad I came, I thoroughly enjoyed it."
Mr McLaren and his wife were both enthralled by the opening performance.
"I think the opening sequence was great – I loved the backdrop. The way they've used the computer in that backdrop, which means they don't have to do any stage changes, that was phenomenal – it caught me out at the beginning then when I realised what was happening it was greatly incorporated into what was going on, on the stage – it was really good, I enjoyed it [Descent of the Celestial Kings].
"It made you sit up and take notice – you know what I mean – you had to, the sound and the colour and everything, you just had to pay attention."
Mrs McLaren added: "The opening one, yes, yes, it was really fantastic, with the smoke – it looked as thought it were in the clouds. It was really beautiful. The costumes were absolutely beautiful."
"Absolutely beautiful"
Rosemary Moser a retired English, French and German teacher wanted to share the experience with someone.
"Beautiful, absolutely beautiful," she also said.
"I would very much encourage people to go, I am very sorry I didn't bring anyone with me as it would be interesting to discuss this with someone especially some Chinese people. I am surprised how many non-Chinese people came here."
Worth it
Karen McIntrye, a Psychologist, and Allan Walsh, a Plumber, both from Melbourne had been discussing the show together.
"We enjoyed it, the costumes were fabulous, I was a bit surprised at how young the performers were... the music was fantastic and I loved the back drops and the effects," Ms McIntre said.
"I think it is definitely good for children."
Mr Walsh added that it was "Definitely worth going to see!"
