The Chinese Spectacular finished its fourth show in the afternoon on March 30 at the Arts Centre, Melbourne, and the audience included many Chinese people.

Among them was Mr Huang, who came to Australia four years ago from Mainland China. He was very impressed with last year's Spectacular and made a point to not miss it this year. He said: "Last year, I watched the Chinese Spectacular and had a very good impression. So I came again today. This show was full of historical [themes] and I found it very good. We are overseas, yet we can see such a good show. I feel very happy and have much to say."

Mr Huang continued: "The show was wonderful and went directly to the hearts of Chinese people, who have a mind of tradition. It is really very good that they use dances and music to tell the historical tales. For example, the performance 'The Loyalty of Yuefei' not only depicted Yue Fei's loyalty and filial piety, but also depicted his mother's understanding of her son's situation and concern for the country. 'The Lady of the Moon' though - it was a love story, it also expressed Hou Yi's love for his people. These are all stories that teach people to be good. They are really beautiful."

Mr Huang felt that Chinese people who are familiar with the historical tales depicted will warm to the show very much. He also remarked on the skillful contrast between the masculine and the feminine performances. 'The Mongolian Bowl Dance' is full of feminine beauty, charm and softness; the 'Tang Court Drummers' is very masculine. And also those very traditional Chinese things, as people see them, they'll be inspired. It is beautiful, artistic and enjoyable."

Referring to the aspects of the stories depicting some of the things happening in China today, Mr Huang said: "The force of justice is striking peoples' hearts then more and more people will accept the truth and it will gain momentum.

So do not worry, let more and more [not only Chinese] people know it. Chinese people will like it and Westerners will also like it."

Mr Huang gave an example. "As a matter of fact, I have a Western friend. Last night he specifically made a phone call to me. He said that he and his mother watched the first show. I must make this phone call to you. Please give me several minutes. I am so moved. We all cried. The show was very successful."

Following all the positive comments regarding the Chinese Spectacular , Mr Huang concluded: "I think this show passes the message of universal values. Westerners also recognise the Chinese culture. I feel that promoting Chinese culture through shows is a very good way. Wherever they go, they will be welcomed.

"Of course as a Chinese, the contents of the show go even further directly into your heart and touch you. The more you know traditional culture, the more you will be touched. Even if you don't know traditional Chinese, at least you will feel that this is a very beautiful show, very pretty…This is a show that enables Westerners to further understand and praise the oriental culture. As Chinese, we should be proud of it and all overseas Chinese people should support it."
