Deputy Mayor Says 'Spectacular' 'Good for the whole family'

MELBOURNE, Australia—Deputy Mayor of Maribyrnong Shire, Cr Catherine Cummings loves Chinese culture, so she took her family to the Chinese Spectacular on Sunday.

"I loved the drums and obviously the fan dances and my daughters enjoyed it immensely," she said.

Cr Cummings is a Doctor of traditional Chinese medicine and she studied Chinese medicine in Australia at Victoria University. She has been a doctor for 10 years now.

She said the show was good for the whole family.

"I have been to China before, Beijing and Shanghai, it's a very lovely country," she said.

She said Chinese culture is very strong in Australia.

"I love Chinese culture and we have had Chinese in Australia since the gold rush," she said.

It is Cr Cummings fourth term as a councillor. She was first elected in 1997 and became the Deputy Mayor last year.
