MELBOURNE, Australia—Artistic director of the La Mama theatre in Melbourne, Liz Jones, believes the Spectacular offered a strong moral message to audience.

"A definite yearning for past times, for better times, for more open times, for more easy times, and certainly a searching for a new truth and morality in the future.

"So there was quite a strong sense of rejecting intolerance and anger and repression," she said after watching the show in Melbourne on Sunday March 30.

She also praised the diversity, both cultural and artistic. She believed the different dance techniques displayed in the show were impressive and some performances "exquisite", especially the 'Mongolian Bowl dance'.

"It was wonderful in the diversity and the range of elements that it drew on to make a really exciting day of dance and movement.

"And really also, the kind of diversity in China that it drew attention to...the cultural diversity and difference, rather than presenting everything as being the same."

Another favourite was the 'Loyalty of Yufei' number and warrior dances, which showed the "athleticism of the male dancers".

"I loved the references to martial arts and the vitality and the looks of all the cast. And I loved some of the gymnastics offering as well". The 'Lady of the Moon' dance was also "very strong", she said.

China has a lot to offer to the West, she says, and thought that it was "quite nice to see some of those offerings on stage."

Mrs Jones attended the Spectacular with her grand children and was excited that they saw the show.

"I liked that it works together, it was good in the way that the hosts made it really connect together, and also the introduction helps. I liked the Tang Drumming that was pretty fast, pretty good." Said Mrs Jones' grand daughter Gretta Damnics. For information about upcoming Divine Performing Arts shows, please visit: www.DivinePerformingArts.org.
