MELBOURNE, Australia—Monique and Rosslyn Fox-Walsh were impressed by the extent of the dancers' training at the Chinese Spectacular in Melbourne on Sunday.
Monique said she loved the show. "Yep, it was brilliant. Particularly the Chinese, we really like the traditional stuff; I really liked it. It was a terrific production," she said.
She really enjoyed the erhu, a traditional Chinese violin renowned for its haunting tones. "It's amazing that the erhu only has two strings - that was lovely. A brilliant production, fantastic costuming, it was just lovely, beautiful."
They heard about the Spectacular from the television.
"It has quite a spiritual concept to this show, to bring out the beauty of China," she said.
Monique said her mother owns a ballet school, the Charlesworth Walsh Dance Centre.
"Yes, and we're in the ballet industry... and that's another reason we came too. And you can see the ballet training... in some of the footwork as well."
Monique said they thought it was great for young performers to tour in different countries. Rosslyn's niece is in a New York ballet company and performed in London recently.
