The year 2008 arrived in southern China with an unprecedented snow storm disaster. During the disaster, an 82-year-old senior from Guizhou Province braved rain and snow to travel to areas around her home and persuaded 527 people to withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations. After many setbacks, this list finally reached the Global CCP Renunciation Center overseas. During a recent interview, one woman indicated that she received a list of 527 people who had withdrawn from the CCP and its affiliated organizations. She explained that an 82-year-old senior gave the list to her and entrusted her to pass it on to the Global Service Center for Quitting the CCP. After the long list was recorded, the reporter managed to contact the 82-year-old and interviewed her.

"I'm from the mountains, where the ethnic minorities live in compact communities," she said. "The snow disaster threatened the local's lives. Five to six hundred elderly people were frozen to death. Besides having no electricity or water, many villagers are facing hunger. Several hundred piglets, lambs, chickens and ducks were frozen to death."

When asked if any local officials came to the rescue, she answered angrily, "Relief supplies? We have seen none. These corrupt officials forcefully took over and occupied our land. They only care for themselves. What do they care about the people? What disaster relief? They have all been taken by the local corrupt officials. The people could not see any of it at all."

Indignant, the old lady raised her voice, "As far as I know, five to six hundreds of elderly people were frozen to death here. Nobody cared. Today, over 28 corrupt officials in the village are still trying to take over land from the peasants. They even yelled at and fought with the villagers. It is so dark. Nobody cared if the people were dying," She paused and sighed. "The officials are rotten to the core that they have earned the bitter hatred of the people," she added. Just today, over 20 corrupt officials came to the village, attempting to take over the land."

"I have long known about the issue of quitting the CCP. I spent almost a month, traveling to 28 villages and towns nearby, informing the villagers about quitting the CCP, the Communist Youth League and the Communist Young Pioneers. Most of the villagers are ethnic minorities. They are quite conscious and very resolute. They hate the CCP. As soon as they hear about the effort to quit the CCP, they are all very supportive and want to sign up. I collected 527 signatures for quitting the CCP."

"The villagers told me what I was doing is very dangerous. I said, 'I am not afraid at all. I am already 82 years old. I cannot live much longer any way. I fear nothing. The CCP has made us suffer so much for all these years. Besides, our current disaster is not a natural disaster. They are all man-made calamities brought about by the CCP. I will continue my effort, and try my best to let more people quit the CCP," the elderly woman stated.
