MELBOURNE, Australia—Jane Sinlay, mother of two, was enjoying the Spectacular with her daughters. We caught up with her at half time.

"The drums were great, I loved that ... I'm looking forward to seeing more acrobatics after the interval ... I liked all of it ... the final drums ... I can just imagine what the finale will be like."

She said she learned more about Chinese culture which she felt was important.

"With the Beijing Olympics, it's nice to feel a little more Chinese culture, and the girls really liked it."

"I really liked the music ... It's funny, the American kind of tinge to it, the stories were great and worked quite well with the kids," Mrs Sinlay said.

"I've certainly enjoyed it so far, very good."

Drums 'Very inspiring'

Joyce Giles-Clark came out of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular feeling "quite energetic" on Saturday night in Melbourne.

"It was very beautiful," she said, "Very pretty in a different way. I liken it, I suppose, to ballet ... I'm not sure what you'd call it."

"We were intrigued when they put the lyrics on the screen, it was helpful ... When you get a bit older, you don't always catch the words, it good to understand."

Mrs Joyce-Clark said she found out about the Spectacular from seeing posters around town, and she was "looking for the entertainment."

"'Spectacular' is the word" she said. "It was really something!"

"I like the water one ['Nymphs of the Sea'], where they had the fans, that was really spectacular. The drums, they were very inspiring."
