MELBOURNE, Australia—After watching the Chinese Spectacular Kathy Spencer and her daughter were excited to have experienced both historical and cultural richness.

"We loved it ... We loved the historical aspect how it covered all areas of the Chinese culture," said Mrs Spencer.

Mrs. Spencer is a primary teacher in Melbourne, and her daughter Lucy works at a museum.

Both acknowledged that the Spectacular was very different from European-based entertainment, being "amazingly eye catching and ... very good."

Mrs. Spencer said she knew little about Chinese culture, history and especially traditional dance.

"But I think it's wonderful that they have these groups that tour around to show young Chinese-Australians how rich their culture is ... I think its really important that they keep touring and giving all Australians, but particularly Chinese-Australians, [information about] how rich their culture is."

"People with Chinese backgrounds can really understand about their culture, and people like us we have ancestors from England and in Anglo countries—we don't know anything, but we have learnt a lot tonight". "The costumes were fantastic and eye catching. The dance moves were incredible, and we also liked the historical aspect in different cultures from China and even mentioning Falun Gong, which is part of the Chinese culture."

They thought the men with their chop sticks performing the traditional Mongolian dance was the best, as well as the ladies with the tea cups balancing on the heads.

"And first the fans with the waves [of] the sea ... it was just beautiful and the way the women could move—they just drifted across the stage. It was just so elegant.

"And that's in the many of the Chinese films. [It] isn't it like Crouching Tigar Hidden Dragon. It's the main instrument in those, and it's just beautiful, and the singing is fantastic! The soprano was excellent. She has a beautiful voice."
