MELBOURNE, Australia—Award-winning singer, actor and theatre maker, Aurora Kurth, thought the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular in Melbourne was "stunning."

"It was beautiful, the costumes just blew me away," she said.

"The last man to sing, I can't remember his name [Hong Ming], the tenor, he was so beautiful it was wonderful," she said of his performance of the song Rest in Knowing.

But it was the drumming that Ms Kurth found the most inspirational.

"I especially liked the drumming. Actually I loved it. It's just the power that comes out of those drums and you can feel it right inside."

"I thought I would come along and check it [the Chinese Spectacular ] out because I am directing and performing in a show later on in the year for a new company called the Australian Chinese Theatre Company and I wanted to get ideas for some visuals for the performance and some dance moves and some injection for the Chinese culture before I start the project," explained Ms Kurth.

Ms Kurth, who has an Advanced Diploma in Acting from The Actors Centre Australia and a Certificate in Theatre Making from The John Bolton Theatre School in Melbourne, found that the show went beyond those above-mentioned inspirations with educational elements.

"When they introduced little bits of the stories behind the dances beforehand – that was quite interesting. Some of it I knew and some of it I didn't."
