MELBOURNE, Australia—Kevin and Maree from Melbourne attended the Chinese Spectacular together and thought that the performances were excellent.
"The colour was excellent," said Kevin, "The way they glide around, and the music, the scenery behind, the way they had that beautiful scenery up there, especially when the mountains erupted and the birds flew in everywhere, it was excellent." [Referring to the legend,'Lady of the Moon'.]
Kevin said that his favourite part of the show was the drumming. "It was very loud and was done very well and the way the sticks were all hitting the drums at the same time—to do that, that's excellent, that's my opinion."
Maree's favourite part was "the girls in the lovely costumes, in the lovely pinks and greens." She also added that she found the whole performance very soothing.
Both Kevin and Maree found the English and Chinese commentary introducing each performance helpful in understanding the 5000 years of Chinese culture and the differences between ballet and Chinese classical dance. Australia's only 200 years old," said Kevin.
"[China] is thousands and thousands of years old and has an older culture than here."
He said that he had heard about the show from the radio and brochures.
"There's a lot of Chinese people that live near where we do...we're used to a little bit of Chinese culture and food, so we thought we'd come and take a look."
