MELBOURNE, Australia—Paul Klisaris, Mayor of Monash, was inspired by Australia's debut Divine Performing Arts show in Melbourne, "Tonight the show was full of colour, full of hope. [It] gives us a lot to think of. Every performance tonight brought something to the table."
"I really enjoyed the drums and the chopsticks...but if I had to single out one, the girls in the high heels, that was symbolism of peace, was a very peaceful performance very balanced and I enjoyed that," he remarked.
"But the drums and the warrior and beating of the drums was very powerful."
"All of the performances tonight had something special about them it would be very unfair to say one was better than the other."
"They were just so beautiful and colourful, anyone watching this show tonight would walk away feeling that that the Chinese culture and Chinese are very embracing of the world, they are not violent people."
Mr Klisaris said that he has had "a lot of exposure to the Chinese culture", as Monash has a quarter of its population originating from China.
