LINKÖPING, Sweden—Alexandra Ivan from Gothenburg is a preschool teacher who specialises in rhythm and dancing and was deeply impressed by the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular .
"What I found very special was their dancing formations and rhythmical work," she explained. "The various rhythms are incredibly healing, especially to us now in our stressful society. It is very healing to watch pulse, breathing, and everything that is coming to a higher level than it usually does."
Alexandra is very interested in healing and found the performances to be a very exciting contribution in this area. She also thought that it was interesting that the performances depicted spiritual worlds and the consciousness within the human being.
Two other members of the audience shared their thoughts after the performance. Life is rarely a bed of roses and Eva and Arne Ullberg from Värmdö outside Stockholm have had their own share of ups and downs and grief. They decided to see the Chinese Spectacular show to lighten up their life in some way.
"We thought we should do something nice, because it has been a bit troublesome for a while," Arne said.
Eva explained that she saw the details about the Chinese Spectacular show on the Circus Theatre website and ordered the tickets. However, things didn't quite go as planned, she recalls, laughing. They ended up getting tickets for the performance in Linköping, rather than Stockholm.
They both agree that it turned out well in the end because it gave them the opportunity to have a short trip away.
They found the performance "absolutely fascinating" as each scene told a story. They were fascinated by the colourfulness of the show, and impressed by both the artists and the orchestra.
For Eva and Arne, the scene about a Falun Gong practitioner who was killed and came down from heaven to the earth to strengthen those who are left there touched them the most.
"What I found interesting was that they dared to show the spiritual, the mental and the physical – those are different worlds within ourselves, " she explained, adding that we in the West do not dare to show this in the same way.
