LINKOPING, Sweden—Hungarians Ference Sa and Andras Bodrog found the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular different from any show they have ever seen. The Spectacular played today at the Linköping Concert and Congress Center in Sweden.
"I've seen some traditional Chinese opera before, but that was totally different," said Sa, who is studying at Tampere University, specializing in theology.
"This is something more fusional," said Sa, who learned about the show through newspaper advertisements and online newsletters.
The two friends said they particularly enjoyed Nymphs of the Sea and Drummers of the Tang Court.
"There were some really spectacular [acts]," said Sa.
Bodrog, who is pursuing a Masters degree in sociology, said he learned about the show through one of his Chinese friends who gave him a pamphlet about the show.
"I'm happy because unfortunately Linköping is not full of cultural events, so it's quite rare. It's my first Chinese theater, I'm happy to see it," said Bodrog.
Linköping is the center of an old cultural region and celebrated its 700th anniversary in 1987. Nowadays it is known for its university and its high-technology industry. Dominating the skyline is the city's 800-year-old cathedral.
