STOCKHOLM, Sweden—"It was the best I've seen in my entire life. I will soon be 86 years old and I have never seen anything like this," said bridge builder-turned-artist Frank Augustsson after attending Wednesday night's performance of the Chinese Spectacular at Stockholm's Circus Theater.

"How wonderful it was, oh such colors," said the gentlemanly Augustsson who specializes in painting miniatures of nature scenes. "It's unbelievable," he added, "especially those small girls when they walk on the floor. It is like they have roller skates on their feet. Well, it's unbelievable. I will dream of this tonight."

Augustsson said the show introduced him to the significance of the lotus flower as well as the practice and persecution of Falun Gong.

"Oh it is terrific, terrific, terrific, a million times terrific," he gushed.

Frank Augustsson came by train from Gothenburg, 310 miles (500 km) from Stockholm to see the show with his daughter and her children.

Annika Augustsson, Frank's granddaughter who had initiated the family trip to Stockholm, was equally impressed, particularly by the performances that included drumming. "I almost cried," she said.

"The dance was terrific, the costumes had beautiful colors, it was much of everything."

Annika's mother agreed.

"All these nice colors, the composition of colors, and then how they have solved problems, like the waterfall when they use the blue silk fans. And then the way they move when they run – it is very nice."

The elder Augustsson said she also liked the drums and the Chinese violin, or erhu.

"I think that was very nice too," she said.

Annika mentioned how much she liked the singing. "I am no expert on singing, but it sounds great."

The New York-based Divine Performing Arts dance company is in Stockholm for five performances of the Spectacular as part of its world tour.
