STOCKHOLM, Sweden—Despite the record cold temperatures in Sweden, people have been coming in droves to see the renowned Chinese Spectacular, currently playing at Stockholm's Circus Theater.
"I think it is a fantastic show, very colorful, and beautiful moves with the hands. I read about the story before the show—it's beautiful and touching," said Suzanne Bodon, who attended Wednesday's show with her husband, Goran Lundstrom, and their 11-year-old daughter, Fanny.
Lundstrom said that although he's been interested in "Chinese stories" all his life, he has never come across anything resembling the Spectacular.
"I've never seen something like this before. ... I didn't imagine it the way it is, but I really enjoyed it, yes."
Lundstrom added that two of his favourite acts were Drummers of the Tang Court and Fruits of Goodness, in which the fate of 2 men changed after they had a benevolent thought.
Bodon said that the Spectacular was "more than I have ever known it was. I have friends who were interested and they were very jealous when I told them where we were going tonight. I will tell them about the extra show."
The response to the Spectacular, a showcase of ancient and modern stories told through Classical Chinese dance and music, was so enthusiastic that an additional show has been scheduled for April 3.
Danny Kohn, a retired business consultant, also attended Wednesday's Spectacular.
"Very interesting," he said. "I actually just bought a ticket to something but I didn't know what it was. I liked it, although I don't know who the group is or the background."
