STOCKHOLM, Sweden—Swedish MP Mikael Oscarsson saw the performance of Divine Performing Arts in Stockholm on March 25. Here are some of his thoughts.
"[The Spectacular is] very impressive and very professional. They are very capable and professional and at the same time deliver a message in their performance, too. They sing out criticism against the [Chinese communist] regime.
"It is a totalitarian regime that deserves criticism, and it is very important that, now during the Olympics … I believe this is another way for the world to put pressure on it. I hope so anyway.
"I work with political issues concerning business, commerce and industry, and energy. As a Christian-Democrat, I think that moral values and family issues are very important. I can feel here [in this show] that there are a lot of the same things, that is, they emphasize good qualities.
"I am a Christian myself and know that it is not only Falun Gong that is persecuted—Christians are also persecuted.
"[In China] there is a lack of democracy, freedom, and religious freedom. Basic human rights are lacking in China.
"[The cause] is this totalitarian regime with communism. They want to keep power, and then every such group is a threat. That I believe is the greater part of the problem. It is complicated. On one side the criticism and on the other world trade, one is dependent on each other. Unfortunately timidity restrains criticism."
