DAEGU, KOREA—Li Xiamen came to Korea from Jilin province five months ago. After watching the Divine Performing Arts' (DPA) Chinese Spectacular, she said, "[I had a] kind of shocked feeling making me cry from time to time. The most moving moment was when I understood the truth."
"Although I am not a Falun Gong practitioner, my brother has been persecuted because he practiced Falun Gong and was jailed for many years. Therefore, the performance absolutely touched my heart. The way the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) treats Falun Gong practitioners and how they have been persecuted are all true. After seeing the Chinese Spectacular, I feel the show told the truth—nothing was false at all."
"I didn't have opportunity to understand the persecution when I was in China. The Internet and TV in China block real news; they only show the prosperous aspects of the country to the public and do not report the true situations. Therefore, we don't know the truth at all. We can say we are hoodwinked."
Li heard about the Chinese Spectacular from a Falun Gong friend, who she met in a park two months ago. "He is a Chinese Falun Gong practitioner and is very amiable. I really didn't know there were so many Falun Gong practitioners in the world."
"If mainland Chinese who practice Falun Gong were ignorant as the CCP put it, does that mean Korean Falun Gong practitioners, Japanese practitioners, and U.S. practitioners are also ignorant? These people are intelligent, and their countries are so prosperous."
"I suddenly realized that it is not that Chinese that are ignorant, but we are lied to by the CCP. The CCP does not allow us to understand these things. That was the reason we didn't have the opportunity to understand Falun Gong."
"People need a decent environment. They are not asking for much. They just hope for a normal life and work environment. They hope to be allowed freedom of belief. We have this right, and this right should be given to us."
"I was an economist in China. I have been here for five months. My name is Li Xiamen, and this is my real name. I am not afraid to use my real name. All my relatives in China used their real names to quit the CCP and its affiliated league and team. They have all quit."
Li indicated that she hoped all countries would be pay close attention to China. "In most places in China, including my home town Jinlin province, there are many people in prison, including Falun Gong practitioners, suffering from the persecution. I have many friends who are currently being persecuted. I hope all countries can extend their helping hands to rescue them as soon as possible."
